Pretty in Paint – Krystal Villarreal

Krystal’s interview

Tell us about your company and where the idea for the name came from.

Our company specializes in preparing companies for sale and move-in. We give professional suggestions to complement the space to prepare the home for sale. This can be a refresh, anything from interior and exterior paint to roofing, electric to staging. Our goal is to appeal to the sales market. The name came from a brainstorming session with mysiblings. PRETTY IN PAINT stems from a love for design and fashion and the impact paint can have on a home, also tied to the film PRETTY IN PINK, which is about having fun.

What is the path that led you to start your own current company?

Have you always had entrepreneurial leanings? I come from a long line of entrepreneurs including both my father and my mother. I started helping “show” houses at the age of seven. I started in new home construction, which enabled me to learn about the process and then I worked in the model home industry. I took a break to devote myself mind, body and soul to motherhood and supermom dom and I nailed it. Now I am eager to be back in an adult community and apply my experience and skills to advance our families future.

If you could go back five years, what would you tell your younger self.

Honestly, I don’t think I would change anything. I extended myself to the absolute furthest stretches of my ability at being a mom. I have no regrets.

How do you develop yourself outside of your work environment?

It has always been fitness for me. As a child I was raised in the martial arts. I focus on yoga, Tai Chi and now I have started in martial arts again, which is a way of giving your subconscious a level of fearlessness and conditioning to be focused.

Is it better to be extraordinary and late or good and on time?

Good and on time. Being responsible and held accountable has a very high value and it is imperative for the longevity of a company’s reputation.

What are you curious about in life?

I am interested in establishing systems to run a company successfully without having to work overtime forever.

What is the most courageous thing you have done in your life?

I really think it is motherhood. Being a mom takes so much courage because it involves so much sacrifice and it takes so much commitment, you really must be fearless.

We are thrilled to have you at SheSpace. You lift everyone’s spirits, what has SheSpace done for you?

Women as a whole are historically underdogs, we have not been given the same privileges as men, so I feel empowered being in the same location as a group of females who are willing to beat the odds, to have faith in their abilities and to fight for their right to be

respected. I feel a sense of obligation as an American woman to represent the capability of women as leaders, and I enjoy being side by side with other women who have the same passion. So even though we are all in different companies we are still all on the same team.
