“Discovering more of the ‘thrivher’ in me every day”

Rapid-fire questions with Cynthia Respert

Most important item in your bag?
In 2021? Hand sanitizer 🙂

Favorite power woman lipstick?
MAC – Oh Baby!

Your favorite podcast, if any?
Confession: I’m the WORST with podcasts. I have A LOT saved but a good book or audiobook is my jam.

Last book you read? Or last show you binged watched?
Win the Day (Mark Batterson), Professional Troublemaker (Luvvie Ajay Jones), The Go-Giver (again), The Joy of Genius (Gay Hendricks), Didn’t See That Coming (Rachel Hollis).

What’s something you can’t leave the house without?
A BIG bottle of water and my cell phone

What is your favorite song of all-time?
Toughhhhh….I feel like I’d do a disservice to my other “favs” that I can’t think of right now by naming one but I love all types of music. If you hear me singing loud, oblivious to my surroundings, that’s one of them (shrug)! 🙂 Feel free to join in!

What’s heavily played on your music playlist right now?
Anything from Maverick City Music and other randomly saved playlists from YouTube of all types of music.

What is something you want to get better at?
Running! I’m a “wogger” at best (walking and jogging) 🙂

What excites you most about SheSpace?
Community, connection, collaboration with like-minded phenomenal women

What is the coolest thing we might find on your desk?
Oddly, nothing much. My walls? You’d have a field day with colorful creative quotes and interactive pieces that would prompt an “I love that!” response, but my desk is pretty streamlined. At best, a pair of 70s style reading glasses I throw on top of my head to add “a look” during random Zoom calls (shrug).

Who would you most like to share a workspace with?
Oprah (business), Angela Bassett (to see what she’s having for lunch so I can start that regimen now 👀) and KevOnStage (comedian) – I love to laugh! IRL, a creative community that takes care of business, wants to make an impact and loves to laugh too!

Favorite Houston restaurant?
As a new Houston resident, my favs are Harvest Kitchen + Bakery (Katy), Ember & Greens, Local Foods and Steak 48 (and cookies from Grand Lux).

Advice to your 20-year-old self?
Don’t be afraid to fail.  Everything you desire is outside of your comfort zone. Fail early, often and keep on going!

Life motto?
Today will show up tomorrow.

#WatchHimWork (derived from my health journey; I’d love to chat about what it means)

Favorite inspiring quote of all-time?

For an “all-time” fav, this is a stretch but I love, “People who are wondering if the glass is half empty or half full, miss the point. It’s refillable.” Perspective is everything.

You don’t rise to the level of your goals. You fail to the level of your systems.” – James Clear, Atomic Habits

Heels or flats?
Flats of all kinds…creative, cute and comfy is my jam!

Coffee or tea?
Tea! Green Tea Latte with almond milk and dairy-free whip to be exact 🙂

Walk or bike?
I love a peaceful, brisk walk but I also appreciate the adventure a bike ride can usher you into, covering more ground than a walk.  I take advantage of the descent of a hill while it prepares me for the ascent of the next one. Just as in LIFE! So, in short – BOTH!
